Wave Aquatics Community,
With the start of 2025, we wanted to provide an update from the governing board.
Our Interim Executive Director who began working with us last September has been doing a great job managing the organization and has recently completed her organizational assessment. The board will be reviewing that assessment, providing direction based on that assessment and will begin recruiting for a permanent Executive Director within the next few months.Â
We would also like to announce a few changes to the governing board:Â
Julie Soedel has retired from her time serving on the board. Julie began working with the board in 2018 and spent much of that time serving as the Treasurer. Even though she is no longer serving on the board, Julie is continuing to volunteer time serving on the Finance Committee. Thank you, Julie, for all of your work and dedication to Wave while serving on the board!
Chris Geitz has taken on the role of President. Chris joined the board in 2023 and has served as a Member at Large and Vice President.
Cari Brumfield, who had been the President, will be staying on the board as a Member at Large to help with hiring of a permanent Executive Director.
Finally, we want to make you all aware (if you don’t already know) that the Juanita pool will be closed beginning March 1 – August 31, 2025, for major renovations and upgrades to the pump and filtration system, the drainage system to bring it up to the new Washington State code for swimming pools, as well as new pool deck flooring. While we know that this temporary closure is inconvenient for everyone, we are confident that when the work is completed the pool will be in great shape to last another 50 years! Our team is working diligently to locate alternative indoor pool space for swim lessons, but it is difficult to come by and may require some additional driving for those of you who wish to continue providing lessons for your children and yourselves during the closure. We are grateful to the entire community for its continued support of Wave Aquatics and are excited for what the future will hold. Â
